A Note from Our SEC
Nomadictheatre is committed to being socially engaged in all of its annual productions, which include a fall musical; a winter miscast cabaret; and a spring play. For each of these productions we choose an applicable social issue and partner with a related nonprofit and/or student group to raise awareness for our topic of choice among the production members and larger Georgetown community. Some examples of previous partnerships include Habitat for Humanity, DC Schools, and Imagination Stage.
In addition to these partnerships, Nomadictheatre offers the opportunity for the members of its community to engage with local theaters by offering field trips in the DC/ NOVA area. Some of the trips tentatively planned for the upcoming year include performances of Merrily We Roll Along (Sig Theater), Prima Facie (Arena Stage), and Come From Away (Ford Theater). In keeping with Nomadic’s values, these shows all feature themes relating to social issues; we hope that by viewing these productions, our own community can gain a greater understanding of how theater can be a force for good beyond Georgetown’s walls.
If you would like to learn more about the ways in which Nomadic’s social engagement manifests, please feel free to contact the Board 45 Social Engagement Coordinator (SEC), Allison Avery, at aa3184@georgetown.edu.
All the best,
nomadictheatre, Board 45
